As big government made its decline in the US, GB and around the world during the 1980s, many long standing service people found themselves out of work and a government that wanted to trim their budgets (especially non-essential national services), so people went out and created the non-governmental sector that would fill the newly found void created by these cutbacks. Today we discussed the role of NGOs in society and how they function to create change as well as opportunity for donors, educated people as well as countries to benefit from them.

This begins how internationalism functions within a nation-state and how it might impact others as we discuss both the opportunities and challenges in the NGO civil society. It was meant as a basic start as we thought about the extent of people that desire to get involved in issues around the globe.
